Filing & Examination
Application filed based on intent to use the mark; examination not yet started.
Examiner found an issue requiring a response within 6 months or the application is abandoned.
Application approved; you have 6 months to file a Statement of Use showing actual use.
Examiner raised issues with your application for the first time. You have 6 months to respond — this is your first chance to argue your case.
Examiner has made refusal final after reviewing your response. Options are limited — you can appeal to the TTAB or file a Request for Reconsideration.
Examiner approved your application. It will be published in the Official Gazette within weeks for the 30-day opposition period.

Examination cleared; your mark is public for 30 days so third parties can file an opposition.
A third party has filed a formal challenge. You must respond or the opposition proceeds uncontested.
